March 2012 - The Headlining

It was with a degree of trepidation that the task of cleaning and refitting the headlining of the car was undertaken. It was in a filthy and threadbare condition, with hindsight I should have taken the bull by the horns and tried making a new one straight away. Not being all that proficient in using a sewing machine I opted instead to carefully remove it from the car and introduce it to the washing machine! Whilst it certainly came out cleaner; the washing of it made it very fragile and proved to be very easily ripped, strong duct tape was used to strengthen the edges for fitting. Neverthless, refitting it was a useful exercise in that I gained useful knowledge in how it was made and fixed to the car.  In June 2015 my wife made a new one for me using Melton Cloth sourced from Woolies of Peterborough.
