Inner Mongolian quartz long point pairLocale: HuangGangLiang mining district, Inner Mongolia, China Approx point length: 3. 75" Approx weight: 40g These quartz points are from HuangGangLiang, and commonly called Mongolian or Inner Mongolian quartz. This isn't your typically shiny quartz; this pair of long straight points is completely coated in a dull mineral crust. On one side, the piece displays two elegant sleek long quartz crystals. Broken ends reveal the first generation of growth

Turns out it's hollow like a geode and the holes on the front and back connect

An amorphous grainy overgrowth coats one side of the specimen

spheres appear to have a dark olive green color and almost metallic luster with radial growth

so I presume they are created using 3D carving

The different types of chlorite inclusions are colored by other trace elements to produce muted tones of green

but today are much harder to come by—at least with any size or quality

Radial growth forms are typical of the Imilchil region in Morocco

This piece has relatively weak reaction compared to many

UV reactivity The small amount of hyalite will react a strong yellow-green color under 395nm UV or 365nm UV light
